SQL DBA
Our Infrastructure Services Division, focuses on the on-going development and operation of the core infrastructure systems. Our Production department manages the live operations of our technology, from Data Centre facilities to Technical Support and Service Delivery. You'll be a member of a tight-knit and dynamic team. We work with interesting technology, supporting a highly available and highly secure environment with no down-time.
Our Support group plays a key role in our operations and problem management processes. We have invested in technologies such as Windows 2000/2003; corporate networks in WinTelserver/Cisco network environment and network and system security. It is through this technology that we are able to support our managed private network, with a planned 150,000 users in 24/7/365 operation.
For this position, we are looking for a true DBA capable of scripting (ie shell and SQL). We are looking for an expert who supports Microsoft SQL Server 2000 & 2005 in a clustered configuration on the Windows Server 2003 platform. Experience with MS SQL Reporting Services, MS Cluster Services, Transact SQL and database backup & recovery is required. Experience with Visual Basic Scripting (VBS), Common Language Runtime (CLR), MS Analysis Services and database design is preferred.
Your experience has prepared you to work through any challenge presented focusing on ensuring efficient, continuous operations of our systems and services. You have worked through complex manageability, security and interoperability problems in large scale multi-platform environments.
Your proven analytical and problem-solving skills will also come in handy. As a monitoring and system management expert, you'll work with other technology experts to ensure the continued successful operation of our Integrated Suite of Products, using our highly available, highly secure mandate as your backdrop.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
*Manage and administer our SQL Server 2000 and 2005 environments to ensure Service Level Agreements between the company and clients are met.
*Work with teams to implement and support applications that utilize SQL server.
*Recommend ways to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
*Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including providing 7x24 hour coverage on a rotating on call basis.
*Participate in the growth and development of these services.
Requirements:
Your prior 3-5 years of demonstrated success in a similar role is complemented by your:
*Administrator level skills with Microsoft 2000/2003 Server.
*Demonstrated expertise in MS SQL Server 2000 & 2005
*Experience working with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, MS Cluster Services, Transact SQL and database backup & recovery
*Experience working with Visual Basic Scripting, CLR and MS Analysis Services
*A University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent
